Gunmen kidnap two Imo-based entertainers

Two popular entertainers in Imo state, Ugo Stevenson and Izunna Obiakor, have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Owerri, the state capital.According to reports, Stevenson, a 2008 winner of Nigeria Music Awards, was kidnapped while on his way home. His abductors have contacted his wife and are demanding a N5 million ransom for his release.

Obiakor on the other hand was ambushed and kidnapped while driving in his SUV in Owerri, the state capital. Both incidents happened last week.
Confirming the abduction, the state Police command's spokesperson, Andrew Enwerem, said efforts are being made to rescue the victims.

“Stevenson was kidnapped somewhere in Owerri West Local Government Area. The commissioner of police has ordered the processes that would necessitate his release. We are working to ensure that the kidnap victim is rescued alive, unhurt and the kidnappers arrested without delay,” he said.
