Following Chelsea hijack for their move for Barcelona forward, Pedro, Manchester United have made a surprise bid for Southampton star Sadio Mane.
Chelsea are poised to complete the signing of Pedro who was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.
Manchester
United have been after the forward all summer but have reportedly
pulled out after learning that the Spain International is interested in a
move to London.
Manchester City and Chelsea have
been monitoring the situation but the English Premier League champions
moved in quickly after their dismal start to the season.
Chelsea according to Daily Mail will pay £19million up front to Barcelona for Pedro and the 28-year-old will be reunited with former Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas at Stamford Bridge.
Louis van Gaal has now turned his attention to Senegal international Mane, launching a £15m bid to Southampton.
Southampton
have however told Manchester United that the 23-year-old is not for
sale although reports suggest that the forward is keen on a move.
United did business this summer with Southampton, paying £25m for Morgan Schneiderlin and are hoepful of getting another from the Ronald Koeman led side.
Mane moved to Southampton from Red Bull Salzburg
last summer and went on to set a new Premier League record for the
fastest hat-trick, scoring three times in 176 seconds during a 6–1
defeat of Aston Villa at St. Mary's Stadium.
Mane has three years remaining on his £55,000-a-week deal on the south coast.
